This is an animation key drawing I created using a Palomino 2B pencil. The bar at the bottom is the taped down pegs used to keep all the drawings registered from one scan to another.

How to Draw Animal Legs

I've always struggled with getting proper proportions on legs of animals in my drawings as evidenced in my drawing puppies. I just seem to make them too thick all the time. Does anyone know of any good resources or tricks for learning how to get proper proportions on limbs of animals? If so please comment here or post them to the Drawing Class page.

Drawn with General's Kimberly pencils coupled with the use of the book "Learn to Draw Animals". This was the first and simplest of the animals I drew after first learning how to put together basic geometric shapes to provide the basic animal form and then begin to add some detail with the broad simple strokes to do the fur. Closeups of nose and other features helped to begin to understand doing more finishing details.
