I consulted with a few teachers and they concluded that you should let your child know you are available to help when THE CHILD feels he needs it. It is always valuable, as well, to discuss the learning process outside of time spent working on homework. Use of research, recognizing learning tools (such as note cards, making lists, re-reading passages, questioning work, or trying to look at work from a different perspective) will help him as well!
