After prayerful consideration and many family discussions I have made an important decision to seek the 43rd District seat in the Kansas House of Representatives. Teachers everywhere have long since been underappreciated, underpaid, and overburdened with assessments. As a colleague, I understand the challenges that you face on a daily basis. I am proud of my profession and the recognition that all of you deserve is long overdue. I have been actively involved in my professional association. I have sought to create effective change by serving on the City Council where I live. My family and I now feel that the time has come for me to offer myself as a servant in a larger public arena. I am hopeful that I can bring a new perspective to some of the complex issues facing our state and offer common sense solutions straight from the people to the Kansas House of Representatives.
As you can see, I am excited at the possibility of serving the people of Kansas, but before I can serve I must conduct a very aggressive campaign. My opponent is a business owner and funds his own campaign. As a Teacher, I cannot compete with him by myself.
To be successful in this endeavor it will take a very strong and dedicated grass roots organization, which I have begun to form. With thousands of brochures to purchase, hundreds of yard signs to order, and layers of shoe leather being lost, I will need help. I am humbly inviting you to get involved in my campaign and help make a difference.
There are well over two million of us nationwide and together we have made huge strides in making policy makers aware of the need to fully fund education initiatives. I have established a goal of reaching 3000 colleagues. I humbly ask that you visit my website at www.snavelyforkansas.com and donate just $20. Your early contribution will give our race a tremendous boost right out of the starting block and help rid the Kansas Legislature of one of the most anti teacher/education legislators. I would be truly honored to be able to say that my campaign was mostly funded by my colleagues in the education profession.
I apologize as I can only offer my deepest gratitude for your help, but please consider what is at stake for our profession and our students in the coming years. Thanks in advance for your encouragement, generous support, and prayers.
