Christian Tamburr Places CD
“Places” is the latest album by vibraphonist and Blackwing Featured Artist Christian Tamburr and his quartet. Christian has been awarded Downbeat Magazine’s “Outstanding Solo Jazz Performer”. Each song on the album represents something special about a place the quartet has performed around the world during 2011. With travels to Prague, Tokyo, London, Toronto and throughout the US, the inspiration has transpired into arrangements and original compositions. The CD features straight ahead swinging standards, modern arrangements of Beatles and Julio Iglesias tunes and four unique original compositions by Christian Tamburr. With a great “live feel” the album includes only full takes and no overdubs as featured in the original Blackwing Sessions video from Studio 602.

Awarded “outstanding Solo Jazz Performer” by Downbeat Magazine Christian Tamburr leads the critically acclaimed Christian Tamburr Quartet around the world with featured performances at The Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, The North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C. He’s had the opportunity to work and tour with many jazz legends including Dave Brubeck, Kenny Barron, Clark Terry, James Moody, Ira Sullivan and more. From 2006-2008 Christian toured as pianist and musical director for Latin vocal artist Julio Iglesias. All songs on the album were arranged and/or composed by Christian Tamburr.
