Creativity Portal has quite a few resources related to writing and creativity of all sorts. This article titled "Creating a Writers Journal" by Molly J. Anderson-Childers discusses the value of keeping a Writers Workbook as a tool to to improve your writing skills.

Here's an excerpt ...

"What’s the difference between a journal and a writer’s notebook? They’re as different as apples and zebras! One of my hobbies is fly fishing. I received a fishing theme journal book as a gift from a long time friend who I've enjoyed spending time with outdoors through the years. Together we've grown our appreciation and understanding of the natural world and it's wonders. Since that time I've enjoyed keeping a journal about daily fishing excursions and outdoor experiences when on a trips to a unique location.
